MAFM ORPHANAGE

The story 'M.A.F.M.Orphanage' has to tell is that of a dream that came to pass when a host of generous people rallied behind a visionary scholar family named 'FAZFARI'.The roots of the family are related to the history of muslim kerala. Abdu Rahman Fazfari, one of the greatest scholars of his time was well-known as a preacher and scholar of Islam. After the demise of that great personality, his followers and well wishers decided to establish an apt memorial for him. His son Muhammed Salim Moulavi took the initiative and it resulted in the organisation of MAFM Orphanage and Arabic College Committee. Salim Moulavi was elected as its working secretary and as its first mission , MAFM orphanage was born.

The foundation stone was laid by Panakkad Pookoya Thangal (Mar hoom), the spiritual leader of Muslim Kerala, in 1975. In the same year, the orphanage started functioning at padinhattummuri, with seven inmates. In 1977 , it was approved by The Control Board of Social Welfare Department.

The progress of the orphanage was rapid. About 150 inmates stay here now . They avail religious and secular education, training in arts and sports etc. Its aim is not merely giving free food and loadging, but the all- round development of the children to make them fit to live in this complex world .

The talented students , after their general education , have ample opportunities for higher studies like Degree , Paramedical , Computer , ITI and Teacher Training Course. In addition to thism motivation classes, career orientation programmes are conducting frequently. The inmates are actievily participating in dist and state inter orphanage fests. Thus the orphans who stand embarrassed in the crossroads of life, get all sort of help and guidance here. It is definitely , a light - house in the darkness.
